VIDEO: The Ethical Horrors of Tax Abuse

McMaster Political Science Professor Robert O'Brien discusses consequences of global tax abuse

Oct 24, 2017

This week we present a video of a presentation by Dr. Robert O'Brien of McMaster's Political Science Department on the human consequences of global tax abuse for marginalized populations. Crucially, Dr. O'Brien draws a connection between financial institutions and regulators in the global north (who operate across the world) and local populations. In this case, he discusses how financial institutions in Switzerland, the UK, and Bermuda facilitate tax abuse which drives or enables states and corporations to engage in austerity policies in particular contexts, "damaging human lives".

You can find the video on our Media Page, and we'll release the full paper from Robert in the coming weeks.
