Settling on Less

Today we feature a presentation from Dr. John Shields of Ryerson University entitled 'Settling on Less: Canadian Immigrant Settlement in the Age of Austerity'. Dr. Shields explores the history and nature of Canadian immigration settlement before tackling the effects of austerity on this policy area. As with other areas of social policy, settlement services are affected by budget cuts and the subsequent imperatives to devolve service delivery to NGOs or reduce the scope of services altogether.
